Cliff Jumping and Wild Horses...Vieques Continued

Jumping off a cliff at our favorite beach Playa Navio. The first picture is me-- I wanted to go first before I lost my nerve, but it took me about 10 mins to decide if I was really going to do this or not... The wind was very strong up there and we had to keep our flip flops on because the rocks were so sharp, we couldn't do it barefoot. I was probably more scared of accidentally slipping off than the actual jump. Finally I just went 1-2-3-JUMP! and all I could think for what seemed like a full minute of falling through the air was "oh SHIT!!!"..both terrified and thrilled.
The second picture is Philip cannonballing right off, no problem... :)
On the drive home from the beach this horse was running along the road beside us, and the sunlight was low and beautiful right then.

Back in Paradise...Vieques Island

Back in Vieques, PR for 12 days...Life is good. There is something about being in the warmth, near the turquoise water and sand that just changes you. Things seem to come into perspective more easily with the sound of the ocean and the smells of the tropical flowers surrounding you.
I love this island. It's beaches are truly magical and there is such a multitude of them that I could go to a different one every day I'm here and love each one more than the next. I have heard that the best is Red Beach (Caracas) but it's difficult to decide.
(I'll include pictures of that beach in a following post).
This picture above is from Sun Bay on Monday at dusk -- we stopped to see the water there right after getting off the ferry and before heading to Duffy's in Esperanza for some dinner.
I've been going to the beach each morning for some ejercisio con Roberto -- it's so nice to be outside connecting with nature while working out...makes a big difference to me. I actually look forward to it and enjoy it at that early hour, so that says something. :)
Yesterday right after a day at the beach and my outdoor shower, I laid in the hammock and did some lazy reading in the setting sun...

Paradise found.

"Catch the good that is within our reach..."

I read something so cool & inspiring today that I just had to share it with you... I hope this moves you, as it did me.
x A-

'There are so many ways in which I can improve the quality of my life.
Instead of fretting about what I can't have or can't do, I'll take action to create something positive in my life today.'

Following this statement was this quote:

"To improve the golden moment of opportunity, and catch the good that is within our reach, is the great art of life." -Samuel Johnson

Repurposing found glass objects into functional decor

Check out this vintage Italian olive oil set I repurposed to display the beautiful Turkish spices my sister brought back for me.
It becomes an adorable colorful kitchen accessory -- plus saffron is my favorite color! I just had to show you...then I realized I could also share useful tips about recycling glass objects for decor & functional uses around your home.
It was in perfect condition & I adored the look of it, but first I needed to remove the labels stuck on there.
For anyone who has experienced the difficulty of removing adhesive this is a super easy method that I love:

To get your glassware like new, simply soak them in your sink with very warm water + a scoop of Cascade dish washer detergent + a tbsp of Dawn for about 2 hours, or a little more if needed. The label and adhesive then come off cleanly and easily with no scrubbing or sticky mess. It doesn't get any easier than that!

Below are a few more inspirations of my found glassware that I've repurposed around my home. I love it because it's fun, unique, creative & very green!

A Clinique lotion container repurposed as a paperclip holder for my desk...
A vintage Ball Mason Glass jar - used a utensil holder...
A mini blue glass jar found also at my local thrift -- now a jewelry-project-in-progress-holder...(currently a Turkish evil eye bracelet in the works).

Now go look around your home to discover a new life for your pretty perfume bottles, lotion containers or cool jars ...ENJOY!
